Overview

Bernard Goldberg takes dead aim at the America Bashers (the cultural elites who look down their snobby noses at "ordinary" Americans and detest so much of what this country is about)...the Hollywood Blowhards (incredibly ditzy celebrities who think they're smart just because they're famous)...the TV Schlockmeisters (including the one whose show has been compared to a churning mass of maggots devouring rotten meat)...the Intellectual Thugs (big-wigs at some of our best colleges, whose views run the gamut from left-wing to far left-wing)...and many more.

Goldberg names names, profiling the villains in his rogues' gallery, one by one, from 100 down to 1 -- and yes, you-know-who is #37. But Goldberg doesn't just round up the usual suspects we have come to know and detest. He also exposes some of the people who operate away from the limelight but still manage to pull a lot of strings and do all sorts of harm to our culture.

"100 People Who Are Screwing Up America is about a country where as long as anything goes, sooner or later everything will go.

Good reading, maybe very offensive to individuals who subsribe to the beliefs and illogical behavior of the individuals described in the book....sometimes it hurts to see yourself in others who are being criticized and you have the same characteristics.....insight is possible, though

The title should have been "100 Liberals who Offend Bernard Goldberg - Whoever He Is". It has the kind of conservative unapoligetic Republican slant that you would expect from Fox News. Granted, I generally enjoy a humorous trip down hypocrisy lane. It's fun to expose people who don't live up to their self-serving rhetoric. Heck, John Stewart has made a living off of that form of entertainment for years. But for Mr. Goldberg - whoever he is - to limit his bashing to Democrats and Liberals and intentionally omit high profile Republicans and such blowhards as Rush Limbaugh in his list of 100 people who are screwing up America only serves to demonstrate his bias vision through Rosy Red-State Glasses. Mr. Goldberg - whoever he is - loses all credibility when he fails to address the hypocrisy on both sides of the proverbial aisle. We all like to share a laugh, but nobody likes being lectured to. It wasn't very entertaining, but simply mean spirited.

See Ann Coulter, she has great references and facts, as well as humor. This book was okay.

Mr. Goldberg book fits into the typical pattern of grouping the elitists and extremists into the leftist Democrats while trying to establish and create rapport with his readers to persuade them to his way of thinking. I found this book much to biased and unwilling to balance or provide different views other than his own. Mr. Goldberg, I have a suggestion for you. Please never write another book again. You wasted my time and those who listen to or read your book.

Not worth it

I'm pretty much politically in the middle, in fact, i have pretty strong libertarian leanings, but i found this book unlistenable. It's pitched as if it's "balanced" but 95% of the politicos it goes after are "liberal." Ok, well, that's his position, but most of the attacls are nothing more than invective. One of his critiques will be alongthe lines of "And -so-and-so- he's a LIBERAL and he QUESTIONS GEORGE BUSH. How dare he! Who does he think he is!" I can 't imagine enjoying this unless you're a extreme republican looking for anger pills.

I put myself out of my misery and returned this book after 45 minutes of listening. If I want to hear a crotchety Republican vent about what's wrong with America, I'll go visit my dying uncle in the nursing home. Yeah, that much fun, but without the sanitation smell or a free lunch.

Too busy being proud of his own voice. Some "very few" opinions are worthy of writing, others you wonder what was the publisher thinking??

All liberals should listen to this with an 'open' mind! It is his personal list but its a good one. Conservatives shouldd listen to it too so that if they talk to their liberal friends, they can open their eyes wider to what liberals are doing to america. I hope he writes another updated one. Of course there are some conservatives mentioned too. Maybe he should write 100 conservatives who are screwing america for balance.
