Overview

Now available on CD: "A brilliant set of principles essential for people to function at their best, overcome personal obstacles, and achieve their heart's desire"*
17 LIES THAT ARE HOLDING YOU BACK explains how to recover from the lies that most of us tell ourselves to prevent us from being everything we could be--lies such as:
- "It's who you know"
- "I'm not good with people"
- "I'm too old"
- "Winning the lottery would solve everything"
- "I don't have the time"
Actually, as Chandler points out, you already have all the power you need to free yourself. And part two of his program outlines these truths and shows you how to recover them and use them to change your life.

Interesting

This book was an interesting "read" and held my interest very well. It wasn't filled with earth-shattering new insights but was presented in a way that I found helpful. I actually listened to it twice just to make sure I didn't miss anything and I'll probably rent this author again.

I enjoyed listing to this book. The author spoke well and definitely kept me interested. The information in this book is information that I pretty much knew already but continue to need to be reminded of it. I highly recommend this book.

Mediocre

  • Book Rating: 3/5

This book contains timeless principles that have been watered down. The Bible verse that the author borrowed for the title is more profitable.

Don't Expect Too Much

Written by David Cotter on March 6th, 2006

  • Book Rating: 2/5

In the interest of full disclosure, I did not finish this book. However, I was somewhat disappointed. The author lays out what are undoubtedly basic truths about life and being successful, but don't expect any great or new insights. I found the book to be primarily rather obvious, almost "cliched", thoughts.

Good advice

I got more than I expected out of this book. The author speaks well and though the 17 lies have been written before, the text puts the list in logical order and supports each point with well-written material.

17 Lies That Are Holding You Back

If you want to hear the truth in a very down to earth manner with examples that will really get you thinking and rolling with laughter at the same time, this is the book that delivers! The author uses such vivid examples and everyday words to help us see how we undermine ourselves with our thinking patterns, rationalizations and justifications......it is worth the time.
