I'm Hooked

This is my first book with the Women's Murder Club and it will not be my last. I enjoyed every minute I spent with Lindsey Boxer and the rest of the girls. Many twists and turns kept me on my toes and wondering who the heck the real killer was. I did not get it right and when it was revealed I was shocked. Then shocked again at the very end. I did not have a problem with the reader. She was not my favorite (that would be Edward Hermann) but she was not distracting at all. I would definitely recommend this book.

1st to Die

Written by Pamela Christensen from Long Beach, CA on October 15th, 2007

  • Book Rating: 4/5

This is the beginning of the Women's Murder Club and I thought it was interesting and fun. It kept my attention from beginning to end and it's great not to know who the killer is until the end. And it got even better at the very end!

Interesting Mystery

I liked the book. It held my interest from the beginning to the end. It was well organized and brought back facts given earlier in the book which made the story more convincing. It had of twists in the story line which made it more pleasurable to follow. The author did not get into great detail regarding the blood and gore associated with the crimes in the book, which I appreciated. I liked it and would recommend to others.

I had read two other of the Murder Book Club series and wanted to read the first of the series and I was not disappointed. It wasn't my favorite of the series but well written and I did not dislike the narrator like many of the other reviewers.

Predictable, and poorly read. Way too many attempts at accents...

Terrible narrato

While I found the story and various plot twists interesting, the monotone voice of the female narrator detracted from the enjoyment.

Don't Bother

The main characters are women, supposedly educated and intelligent, acting and talking like stupid teenagers. This is the second time I have listened to a novel from James Patterson and I will never do it again.

James Patterson is an award-winning American author. Formerly the chairman of advertising company J. W. Thompson in the early 1990s, Patterson came up with the slogan "Toys R Us Kid." Shortly after his success with Along Came A Spider, he retired from the firm and devoted his time to writing. The novels-featuring his character, Alex Cross, a black forensic psychologist formerly of the Washington, D.C. In total, Patterson's books have sold an estimated 150 million copies worldwide. He has won awards including the Edgar, the BCA Mystery Guild's Thriller of the Year, and the International Thriller of the Year award. Patterson is also well known for sharing the spotlight with different co-authors such as Maxine Paetro and Andrew Gross and has often said that collaborating with others brings new and interesting ideas to his stories.

He also founded the James Patterson PageTurner Awards, now in its third year. Patterson has personally given away over $600,000 to reward "people, companies, schools, and other institutions who find original and effective ways to spread the excitement of books and reading."
