Overview

Master of suspense James Patterson enters a horrifying underworld with this second thriller in his dazzling new Women's Murder Club series.

When a little girl is shot on the steps of a San Francisco church, Detective Lindsay Boxer knows it's time to reconvene the Women's Murder Club. Working with Chronicle reporter Cindy Thomas, assistant D.A. Jill Bernhardt, and medical examiner Claire Washburn, Lindsay tracks a terrifying killer who soon tries to turn his pursuers into his next victims. The unorthodox allegiances of the Women's Murder Club lead them to suspect the unexpected and unthinkable—the killer may be an ex-cop! But nothing the Club does can prepare them for the demented logic behind the killer's choice of victims.

This is a good story, but the book as a lot of profanity that is not really needed to tell the story.

Great

I thought the book was great. I never knew Jeremy Piven had such an excellent reading voice, I loved him! The girl did not read as well but was tolerable. Some of the supposed clues Boxer found and times she just so happened to get away were pretty out there and I found myself rolling my eye's once in a while but other than that this was a book I couldn't stop listening to.

This was a good one! There were not too many side stories going on to confuse the issue-unlike the 5th Horsemen

The story itself was pretty good. I am not a big fan of the reader, however.

No Chance!

Detective Lindsay Boxer must be the dumbest detective alive - or maybe the abridging of this book was terrible, but the plot twists are barely curves. The detective does little detecting, and even less running of her department. The Women's Murder Club is crass enough to be excited to be together again - even if lives are lost. Apparently, confidentially and honesty are unfamiliar concepts to the main characters. It's a ragged story about unworthy characters. The book reads as if it was written by a committee - inconsistent and with uneven character development. Going to give the rest of this series a miss.

I have enjoyed this series by Patterson. Unfortuately I did not start with book one. But I am working my way backwards. I find the story fast pace and keeps my attention on my way to work and back. Looking forward to the next one.

2nd Chance was a very good book. There were twists and turns that really did keep you wanting to hear more. This is one I really didn't want to put down. Most books can be slow or boring at some point, but this kept its pace nicely.

Good book - worth listening to

I liked this book. Some of the scenes are a bit Lindsay Boxers escapes and "near misses" are extremely far-fetched but it is a good book and worth the read

NOT A BAD SEQUEL

This was good. The narration in both male and female made it interesting too. It was not as good as the first one, but isn't every sequel that way. It was definitely as good as any sequel should be.
