Dreadful book; superficial doesn't quite begin to describe the thing. Very little to zero plot, characters are lightweight, just dreadful.
I felt as though I had missed the first book. You jump into a world of fairies, vampires, witches; and you just don't understand after five hours into the readings. I just didn't care what happened to the characters. It took about nine chapters for the characters to get prepared to make a journey. I got too bored to wait for the take-off.
I couldn't get past the first few paragraphs of the first chapter! The main character is about as profound as Paris Hilton. This should be marketed first and foremost as a formula romance novel for GenX'ers. It is certainly not the exciting, mysterious urban fantasy novel it purports to be. I'll stick with Charles de Lint!
