Now, Karp finds himself not only searching for the killers, but fighting to protect his own family from an evil that runs as deep as the mines that fuel it.

I thought it a bit choppy reading also. Wish it had more about the dogs. did have great humour. Maybe I needed to read a book before this one -- you sort of felt like you came in in the middle of something. Only so so But ok for long drive.

It gave me something to listen to on my long drive, but after it was done, I realized that there were no parts where anything good happened. I prefer a little up and down in my stories. This book had only bad. Kind of a downer.

I really love Tanebaum's books starring the Karp/Ciampi family. However, I really lost interest in this story. Maybe it was the abridged version, but the story seemed a bit choppy and disconnected. I found it pretty predictable and boring.

A very compelling book with a wonderful sense of humor. I often missed dialog because I was laughing so loudly. I will listen to all of his books as a result of listening to this one.

Interesting characters, a quick paced story, and an unusual use of family pets make this a very enjoyable read.
