Overview

Robert Fitzgerald's magnificent translation of Virgil's epic poem was a major literary event at its release in 1983. Profoundly poetic yet gloriously accesible, this is the best way to experience a work that has remained a centerpiece of Western civilization for 2,000 years. Share the excitement, adventure, and human tears as Aenas, the warrior hero, escapes from the buring city of troy, embarks on a long perilous journy, and eventually, triumphantly, establishes a new nation-Rome.

This was a very good as read from the original story. It is the story of the Trojans who sailed to Italy after the fall of Troy to found Rome. It fills in a lot of the blanks after The Iliad (or "Troy" if you saw the movie) It does not get into the actual establishment of Rome. You have to have the patience to listen to an epic. This is not a Dean Koontz novel, but it is a great story!
