I realize that this was a best-selling book and the subject was extremely important as were the actual circumstances but i found the book boring and quit listening to it before it was over because of the language it would have been better in a condensed version
This was an excellent book that brought into perspective the activities of Watergate. I was very young when this all played out and the book gave me a sharp "kick" in my gut. I now question the power of the Executive branch and the service of professional politicians. It will forever change my viewpoint. I flew through it as it consumed my day. Well written and well read.
The CD's were scratched. Needless to say I returned it without listening to the whole book.
Bob Woodward has the ability through his writing to place the reader directly in the passenger seat, as if you are right there, as it happens. This book didn't disappoint in that regard. Being that I was quite young when Watergate happened, and knew very little about the topic, this book had me engrossed from the very beginning. It provided me with a birds-eye view into the journalistic process, and portrayed how the entire scandal played out through their eyes. Though I initially felt this was going to be a dry history lesson, this quickly became more of a political thriller – one which caused me to anticipate my daily commute just to hear what happened next. The book stopped just short of Nixon stepping down, which I found disappointingm until I later found that this is covered in their follow-up book called “The Final Days”, which unfortunately doesn’t come in an Audiobook version.
Excellent. A real eye-opener regarding the accounts of Nixon's Watergate.
