The book is not what I would characterise as "exciting," but it is surely entertaining. Palin deals with any number of strange and unsettling people and situations during his 80-day tour; all with good-natured humor, if not exactly understanding. It was just plain FUN to follow him around.

VERY good -- Get it now!

Ok, so I'm TOTALLY not a traveler -- I think Chicago to S.F. is too far to fly... But I wanted to go along with Michael on his trip. It was poignant, funny, frustrating, etc. All delivered in that beautifully understated, wicked British style ... BRAVO! He has a real command of the language. It was done in 1988, but truer now than ever ... He gives me hope for humanity. Please get it, even if you don't like to travel by container ship or rail car...
