Overview

Deep within a heavily guarded compound of the Brookhaven National Laboratory lies the nation’s most protected secret: an active alien artifact. Estimated at several millions of years old, impervious to all efforts to penetrate its secrets, the artifact taunts researchers with bursts of mysterious radiation that may be efforts at communication.

Now, after two researchers conducted unauthorized experiments on it, something has awakened inside, something as old as time, wielding incalculable power and an agenda of doom. While America’s military struggles against an impossible power, only a twelve-year-old crippled computer hacker and an aging police detective hold the key to the artifact. But they must overcome disbelieving authorities in a desperate race against time, with the very survival of humanity in the balance.

Great Visuals

I thought this was a well written, action packed book. The visuals the author portrays really brings the action to life. A real Predator meets Armeggedon. Will definitely look for more from this author

Pretty darn bad. Just to give you an idea: the "hero" was a brilliant crippled boy; his best friend was a black man with a heart of gold who couldn't catch a break; the other "hero" was a dying woman. The bad guys were all middle-aged greedy white guys. Everything else was likewise predictable. Some of it was even laughable, like when the monster remotely made the hero kid's CD drive smoke. Ok. And the writer's failure to know the difference between "flaut" and "flaunt" The worst part is, I listened all the way through.

For those of you who care, this book contains profanity(F). I did not listen more than a few minutes.

Entertaining and fast-moving

This book was perfect for commuting. It moved along fast, with lots of suspense and action, and the reader was excellent. The story was kind of unbelievable, over the top, but that is what science fiction is about. Overall I recommend for all science fiction fans.

I enjoyed this book. A bit over the top and somewhat predictable in the end. Still I thought the pace was good and the reader was fantastic.
