This is the sort of book that sucks you in. I wasn't sure I would like it but weeks after reading it, I still think about it. That is a good book. Excellent.
Very odd book. Wasn't sure where it was going or if it was just about a high school crush gone bad. The ending just wasn't there. There was no ending. I wanted to know what happened.
I loved this story, plus it was read by my favorite narrator Scott Brick. Think back to your high school years and all of the feelings of being lost and trying to figure out who you were and where do I fit? This book is not about getting the answers to these questions, but maybe a discovery of a journey and where one may end up.
I enjoyed this audiobook...for its humor, its accurate description of teenage angst, its acknowlegement of the intellectual/creative teenager, and its very adult description of loss. I looked forward to time spent in the car so I could listen, and I particularly appreciated Scott Brick, the narrator, whose work I have enjoyed previously.
The plot's premise promises much and delivers little. The emphasis seems to be on the narrator's inner state more than on plot. This makes for a rather slow book. Also, more infuriatingly, the book raises a ton of questions--compelling ones at that--and never answers any of them. Bah! what a cop-out. If I want unanswered questions I'll just live my own life, not escape into fiction. Having said that, he does draw some interesting characters..Anna, Bryce, Carl-- However, if I had it to do over again....
The book is slow. Rarely do I quit a book without making it to the end but stopped listening to this one half way through. Probably a good character study of teenagers. I no longer have teenagers and found it boreing.
