Overview

What's the secret to becoming a millionaire?

In The Automatic Millionaire, David Bach shares that secret.

The Automatic Millionaire starts with the powerful story of an average American couple -- he's a low-level manager, she's a beautician -- whose joint income never exceeds $55,000 a year, who somehow manage to own two homes debt-free, put two kids through college, and retire at fifty-five with more than $1 Million in savings. Through their story you'll learn the surprising fact that you cannot get rich with a budget! You must have a plan to pay yourself first that is totally automatic, a plan that will automatically secure your future and pay for your present.

What Makes The Automatic Millionaire Unique:

• You don't need to make a lot of money
• You don't need a budget
• You don't need willpower
• You don't need to be that interested in money
• You can set up the plan in an hour

This one little audiobook has the power to secure your financial future. Do it once -- the rest is automatic!

Very informative. I learned a lot. It is great to be able to listen to a book like this as I drive to and from work. It makes the time spent in the car seem like less of a waste!

This program is a blueprint to success. Get past your assumptions and adopt these principles.

Pretty typical stuff. Was hoping to learn something and didn't.

Bad advice

This book did touch on a few useful points (pay yourself first), but overall it was simply bad advice for anybody who wants to live their prime years above the status quo. I am a self made 27 year old Millionaire that achieved success by going about things in a 99% contrary way to that of which this book suggests. For people that don't want to know how money works and/or are not driven, then follow the guidance of this book. For people that don't think they have the time or the intelligence to learn how money works, then read "Think and Grow Rich." For people that need motivation to take control of the money game then read "Rich Dad, Poor Dad." Getting the right information and education is absolutely fundamental in amassing great wealth. If that is your goal, then this book provides an education that will do nothing more than allow you to retire at 65 and the information will lead you down the wrong path.

This has to be the worst book I have ever listed to. The author should be arrested for theft, for selling this garbage. He could have summed up this book in one sentence, save $5 a day, and you will still be broke. He doesn't take into account inflation, and does not motivate at all. The only person getting rich is him, by taking money from the poor and selling this garbage. This felt so good to have an outlet to provide my opinion of this horrible author. The book and author are rediculous.

Great for younger workers

If you are under 30, or if you are above 30 but can sock away a sizeable amount of cash each month, this is a great book. It provides some simple instructions for how to put money away for retirement such that you can retire rich. However, if you don't fit into either of the 2 categories I specified above, you'll surely need to do more in order to have a comfortable retirement. You'll need a very long runway to get rich under David Bach's system, and if time is not on your side, then you should use his system only as a starting point. To retire in comfort you'll need to go beyond it, and look into additional means of making and investing money.

This book is basic but good. It's a good reminder about how we all "intend" to do things right but often do not follow up...so automate! We made some changes to our mortgage as a result of this book so I'd say it's worth a listen.

Concept is good. Execution is not done tastfully

This book should be about 3 chapters. It is incredible how repetitive and oversimplified the execution is....The narration is quite painful to listen to. That being said, the underlying message and technique is excellent and very simple. It is an oversimplfied version of the wealthy barber. I would recommend this to most people for the simple fact that it works and will make you millionaire if followed with dicipline.

Can I be a millionaire, too? Now I can!

After going through this book, you quickly realize that anyone can actually do it. There are many books out there on investing and getting rich, but this one deserves a mention. You don't need to have money in order to become rich. You can start with the proper actions and get there anyhow. He makes it sound so good, that I've already taken action. I can, and I will.

Do it or lose it

Where "The Millionaire Next Door" gives excellent general advice for a particular kind of millionaire (business owner, spends time on investments, frugal, etc), this book provides very specific advice for a different kind of person: The person who wants to know they'll have enough money to retire in comfort without having to think about money much or worry that they aren't being frugal enough. By focussing on setting up automatic processes to maximize pre-tax investments, this book provides very doable, practical advice. In addition to the "automatic" part (which actually takes little time to explain), the author goes into great detail on how to set up investments, how to purchase a house while paying less money than most, etc. This is all very important advice, and if you aren't following most of the approach described in this book, then every month you are simply burning up free money that could have been yours.
