I love the Nevada Barr series. So I was very disappointed that I couldn't bear to listen to the narrator. For me it detracts too much if you keep noticing the quirks of the story teller and don't hear the story. I know it is all subjective, but somehow this reader just helped me appreciate all the wonderful narrators on other books. I couldn't make it through one disk. Thought you might want to know.

I usually love the listening to the Anna Pigeon stories.. but I think this book was abridged too far. There was not enough about the park and the other people were there and gone much too fast.. without their presences really being felt.. and not nearly enough of Anna`s usual musings and deliberations. Not the usual for Ms Barr at all. I was disappointed.

First one an Abirition?

Well, this is my third Anna Pigeon, and it has progressed steadily downhill for me. This one has NONE of the things that have come to make Pigeon my favorite heroine. No calls to sister Molly, no love lost or imagined, heck even the descriptions of the park were not as good in this one. I am NOT disgusted enough to not give Barr one more chance, but the next AP Mystery better be a good one, or I may remove a couple from my que.

I really enjoy the Anna Pigeon series. She's just the right mix of strength, humor and reason. Not afraid to swear but always when it's appropriate. I laugh out loud. I will listen to them all!
