Overview

The steamy summer streets of Washington are no match for the phone lines of Fantasy, Inc., where every man's dreams
come true. The "hotline" works perfectly for its anonymous clients, and the teachers and housewifes who moonlight as call
girls...until a brilliant madman plugs in with twisted passion, tracks down "Desiree" and murders her.

A different kind of passion brings Grace McCabe and Ed Jackson together-a passion for each other...and for justice and
revenge. Grace, the bestselling mystery writer, is determined to trap her sister's killer, to bait him with the same seductive voice that triggered his deadly lust. Ed, the cop assigned to the case, knows he can't stop her, that he can only protect her.

Somewhere in the darkness, someone is waiting, listening for the voice that will bring him back to the scene of the crime
for one last thrill, promising ecstasy - and death.

I am a big fan of Nora Roberts, but this was not one of my favorite books. The characters were boring, the plot was trite.

Pass on this one, there's better!

Bleagh. Usually Nora Roberts is very good, but this story was not her best. Lacked depth and dimension of plot. Formulaic and predictable. I sent it back without finishing.

I enjoyed this novel. It kept me listening from the moment I turned on my truck. I found myself sitting in the parking lot just to listen to another chapter.

Good Book although it was predictable. I did not like the fact that they did not develope the child of the murdered women into the plot of the story.

This was a very creepy story. Even with an abridged version, the author was still able to convey the terror experienced by the victims in this murder mystery. As murder-mysteries goes, this story did its job...creepy.

Great selection...one of those books where you sat in your drive way to find out what direction the story was going to go in!

This is one of Nora Roberts earlier books. I enjoyed the mystery but it does not quite measure up to her latest novels. The cultural dialogue for the area was wonderful along with customs that are related just to the New Orleans area. The story had a good pace to it with no breaks in the interest of the story line. The raw emotion that was shown by the detective over the lost of a friend was great. She showed how we can judge others without really understanding them both good and bad. Would recommed this book.
