Overview

"BRISINGR" EXCLUSIVE: The audio edition of "Brisingr" features a revealing Q & A between best-selling author Christopher Paolini and editor Michelle Frey.
OATHS SWORN . . . loyalties tested . . . forces collide.
Following the colossal battle against the Empire's warriors on the Burning Plains, Eragon and his dragon, Saphira, have narrowly escaped with their lives. Still there is more at hand for the Rider and his dragon, as Eragon finds himself bound by a tangle of promises he may not be able to keep.
First is Eragon's oath to his cousin Roran: to help rescue Roran's beloved, Katrina, from King Galbatorix's clutches. But Eragon owes his loyalty to others, too. The Varden are in desperate need of his talents and strength--as are the elves and dwarves. When unrest claims the rebels and danger strikes from every corner, Eragon must make choices-- choices that take him across the Empire and beyond, choices that may lead to unimagined sacrifice.
Eragon is the greatest hope to rid the land of tyranny. Can this once-simple farm boy unite the rebel forces and defeat the king?

What a fantastic read! The narrator does an excellent job with the voices and emotions of each persona. Paolini has developed such wonderful characters. I found myself cheering and laughing out loud. I can't wait for the fourth book!

C.Paolini has done well once more. His third offering of the Inheritace Series, Brisingr, is a wonderful journey with full blown characters and plenty for ones own imagination to envision and paint to life. A worthwhile read. I recommend the book or CD of all three installments over the too condensed movie offering that has left all wanting. Thanks, Christopher, keep writing. - TV Vessels Jr.

As with the first two books, Brisingr had me enthralled. My commutes seem too short when I must stop and I can not wait to get back into the car, to enter this world again. Christopher Paolini is an impressive author and with his youth we can look forward to many more years of entertainment from him. Christopher...keep them coming!!!

The third in the Inheritance series. I have become a fan of Paulini. Thie first book, Eragon, caught me by surprise as I did not expect such a good book with such a well developed story. The second book, Eldest, was even better from a literature point of view and aptly demonstarted the author's talent for character development. It is my favorite of the three books so far. This last book reverted to the action orientation of the first book and labored a little at times. I understand that there will be a fourth and look forward to it. P.S. The interview with Paulini at the end of Brisingr is a bonus.

Impressive

I think Paolini is developing quite nicely as a writer. When I was first begrudgingly introduced to eragon I had to roll my eyes a little bit at his obvious Star Wars, Lord of the Rings and Riders of Pern influences (especially in the first book) but I have to say that as the story has developed I find myself more and more drawn in to his ability to include political and romantic intrigue in interesting ways. I especially enjoy his treatment of Eragon's, presently unrequited, love relationship with Aria.

Paolini, Christopher

Christopher Paolini was raised in the Paradise Valley, Montana area. His family members include his parents, Kenneth Paolini and Talita Hodgkinson, and his sister, Angela Paolini.[1] Home schooled for the duration of his education, Paolini graduated from high school at the age of 15 through a set of accredited correspondence courses from American School of Correspondence in Lansing, Illinois. Following graduation, he started his work on what would become the novel Eragon and its sequel Eldest, both set in the kingdom of Alagaësia.

In 2002, Eragon was published by Paolini International LLC, Paolini's parents' company. To promote the book, Paolini toured over 135 schools and libraries, discussing reading and writing, all the while dressed in "a medieval costume of red shirt, billowy black pants, lace-up boots, and a jaunty black cap."[1] Paolini created the cover art for the first edition of Eragon, which featured Saphira's eye. He also drew the maps on the inside covers of his books.[2]

In Summer 2002, the stepson of author Carl Hiaasen found Eragon in a bookstore and loved it, and Hiaasen brought it to the attention of his publisher, Alfred A. Knopf.[3][4] Knopf subsequently made an offer to publish Eragon and the rest of the Inheritance cycle. The second edition of Eragon was published by Knopf in August 2003. At the age of nineteen, Paolini became a New York Times bestselling author.[5] Eragon has since been adapted into a film of the same name.

Paolini's essay "It All Began with Books" was included in the April 2005 anthology Guys Write for Guys Read.

Eldest, the sequel to Eragon, was released August 23, 2005. The third book in the cycle, Brisingr, was released on September 20, 2008.[6] Although the Inheritance cycle was planned as a trilogy, the details for the Brisingr had to be expanded to include a fourth book.[7]
