Overview

With the same wicked humor, buoyant charm, and optimism that have made her Shopaholic novels beloved international bestsellers, Sophie Kinsella delivers a hilarious new novel and an unforgettable new character. Meet Emma Corrigan, a young woman with a huge heart, an irrepressible spirit, and a few little secrets:

Secrets from her mother:
I lost my virginity in the spare bedroom with Danny Nussbaum while Mum and Dad were downstairs watching Ben-Hur.
Sammy the goldfish in my parents? kitchen is not the same goldfish that Mum gave me to look after when she and Dad were in Egypt.

Secrets from her boyfriend:
I weigh one hundred and twenty-eight pounds. Not one eighteen, like Connor thinks.

I've always thought Connor looks a bit like Ken. As in Barbie and Ken.

From her colleagues:
When Artemis really annoys me, I feed her plant orange juice. (Which is pretty much every day.) It was me who jammed the copier that time. In fact, all the times.

Secrets she wouldn't share with anyone in the world:
My G-string is hurting me.
I have no idea what NATO stands for. Or even what it is.

Until she spills them all to a handsome stranger on a plane. At least, she thought he was a stranger.

But come Monday morning, Emma's office is abuzz about the arrival of Jack Harper, the company's elusive CEO. Suddenly Emma is face-to-face with the stranger from
the plane, a man who knows every single humiliating detail about her. Things could not possibly get worse? Until they do.

After selecting a couple of "duds" to listen to, I was excited that I finally had such a fun story to listen to on my way to work. In fact, it was so good that I took the CDs out of my car and brought them inside when I got home so I could listen to them some more. I ended up finishing the book in less than two days! I highly recommend this to anyone who enjoys an uplifting, romantic story that doesn't always go as planned.

What a fun, light "read"! I'm falling in love with author Sophie Kinsella ~ she's turning my commute into a really enjoyable part of my day! A little predictable but crazy, lovable characters who make me want to get together right away with my girl friends. I'm about to look up and add to my list ALL of Ms. Kinsella's stories!

This was fairly predictable but was an entertaining story to listen to on my commute. You can't help but like the leading characters and root for both of them. Kept me chuckling listening as Emma grew a backbone and got even with the office bullies and stood up to the antagonist in her family. Very entertaining.

Cute story of a Bridget Jones type of character. I found it to be a bit predictable, but enjoyed the characters anyway.

I actually really liked this book. Although it was a little slow to start and short, I thoroughly enjoyed the story line. I wanted to keep listening even when I had arrived at work and to tell you the truth, I brought the book inside the office and listened there too. It definitely kept my interest, but I tend to like trashy, mushy romance novels.

I agree with the other listeners; this book was a slow start but come disk 2 it was very enjoyable. Very short though. The outcome is proably what most expect, but still a good listen. If you need a pick me up, cheery love story, this ones for you.
