Overview

For twenty years, Sheriff David Reichert of King County, Washington, was a man with a single, all-consuming obsession: to capture the most notorious serial killer in American history - the monster who would become known nationwide by the river he used as a dumping ground. From the earliest morning hours to the middle of the night, Reichert combed local streets and alleys, wilderness and parkland, searching for any clue that could lead him to the Green River killer. He was driven by compassion for the victims' families and justice for the victims. He staked his career and his life on putting an end to the most horrifying episode in his beloved county's history.

I am trying to keep my feelings about the case seperate from my feelings about the book. I am amazed by Dave Reichert's determination to catch a monster. Not impressed by the quality of the interviews with Bundy or Ridgeway, but that was the only thing that detracted from this reading. I went to school with Gary Ridgweway's son, and was saddened to hear how his father used him. I hope the book brought closure to David Reichert, and I thank him for his perspective on this nightmare.

This "book" weirded me out. I have to admit I had no idea who the killer was and maybe that's why I enjoyed the book. I usually don't go for this genre but I thought it would be a nice change. I was rivited. The only negative comment is the audio recordings of his interviews were a little hard to understand while driving.
