Maybe it was the abridgement, but most Star Wars fans will be disappointed with this series. Very stiff and disjointed. Characters are one dimensional, and appear and disappear as needed to push the plot along, with very little effort to hide the "seams". It might have been a very interesting plot line, but I kept asking myself, "Why would this character act this way?", or, "Wouldn't a short holonet message have prevented all of this?". Battles/action happen agonizingly slow. This is over and above my dissatisfaction with an antagonist with seemingly unlimited resources, and plot twists you can see coming a light year away. A nice attempt to tie in places and history from other books, but it falls far short. I am not going to finish this series.
