Kitty Ferguson's interest in astronomy and physics date from her childhood in Texas, in a family that valued science, classical music, and religious faith. Ferguson followed up her early passion in England for science by auditing graduate lectures and seminars. After her return to the United States, Ferguson wrote a best-selling biography entitled Stephen Hawking: Quest for a Theory of Everything. She met the subject during her time in Cambridge.
