Overview

Firedrake, a young dragon, receives a frightening warning one night: Humans are planning to destroy the valley in which he lives! All the dragons must flee. Their only refuge is a place above the clouds called the Rim of Heaven--which may not even exist. Firedrake boldly volunteers to go ahead first. As he embarks on his journey, he meets Ben, a runaway boy. Together, the boy and dragon make their way toward the Rim of Heaven, all the while running a step ahead of Nettlebrand, a monster who will stop at nothing to hunt down Firedrake. Their quest will truly become an adventure like no other.

It started a little slow, but Brendan Fraser's narration kept me interested, and it did get better-so much better! I became invested in the characters-the voices were terrific! (dare I say that Brendan Fraser is in the Jim Dale category?) The ending was warm and satisfying-a wonderful book for the whole family!

I loved this book! I am a big fan of fantasy and this is definitely one of my favorites. It was wonderful to listen to as Brendan Fraser did a great job of giving each character their own voice. I truly loved listening to this book and will definitely be buying a hardcover edition soon!

Enjoyed the first half of the book. Looking forward to listening to the second half. The narrator does a great job with the many variety of voices. The author was skilled at painting the picture for every scene so that I felt I was present with the charaters and each setting.

This was an excellent book. It was geared for children but appealing enough for adults. Brendan Fraser is very animated and does a great job with the many different voices. I could see him reading this book to a classroom full of school children.

The narrator makes this book come alive. He slips in and out of character voices flawlessly. And he's very funny in his interpretation of the voices. I loved it.

A beautiful story, artfully narrated. Having just heard Inkheart, it took us a bit to get accustomed to the narrator's voice as different characters; however, aside from that mild distraction, my 8 and 11 year olds and I loved this story. The elements of fantasy and excitement were there without the violence found in many other books. the characters are fabulously woven into the story, and it draws you in... Definitely 5 stars!!!!

I loved this book! The story is so fun and entertaining that you just can't wait to hear what the next adventure will be. Brenan Frasier is so talented that you forget that he does all of the character voices. He brings such personality to the story.

My 7-year old son loved this audio book so much that we ended up purchasing a copy. We have the book as well, but for my son it is pretty heavy reading, so when this came out on audio it was definitely worth purchasing. Brendan Fraser is awesome as the narrator. He really puts himself into the characters in the book.
