Overview

In this first compact disc edition of the totally revised one million copy underground bestseller The E-Myth, Michael Gerber dispels the myths surrounding starting your own business and shows how commonplace assumptions can get in the way of running a business. He walks you through the steps in the life of a business -- from entrepreneurial infancy, through adolescent growing pains, to the mature entrepreneurial perspective, the guiding light of all businesses that succeed -- and shows how to apply the lessons of franchising to any business, whether or not it is a franchise. Finally, Gerber draws the vital, often overlooked distinction between working on your business and working in your business. After you have listened to The E-Myth Revisited, you will truly be able to grow your business in a predictable and productive way.

I heard about this book from the 4 hour work week and I am glad that I decided to listen to it. It tells a great story about Sara who owns a bakery and how she loses herself in her business because she takes on the technical person of the business instead of the entrepreneur and manager of the business. She loses the spirit that she loved for baking pies and Michael Gerber helps her find her entrepreneurial spirit again.

I enjoyed this book tremendously. There were sections, however, that I thought were just self-indulgence on the author's part, but I understand why the book is recommended so highly. The ideas are presented clearly and thoroughly.

Superb information for any small business owner. Wish I had read it a few years ago when I first started my small business. I intend to get the rest of the books by this author.

although I got a bit annoyed at the long lists patiently outlined by the reader/author, this book gave me some great ideas to ponder. if you have a decent drive (30 min minimum) so you can hear the stories without interuption this is worth listening to. i just found that the long long long long lists of examples tedious while driving - if i were reading, I would have skipped! AND, I am now working on an Org chart for my very small company!

This book dispells the myth of the firebrand entrepreneur, and focuses on exactly what it takes to make a business work. My own business was was already in transition from adolescence to mature, and this helped illuminate a lot fo the paths I should focus on. Two thumbs up!

I read the book and the audio was a great reinforcement of the principles behind it. if you have your own small business or are starting one, this is one of the must reads. I've recommended this book to at least 25 people, it is that important of a read. The abridged audio is a great summary.

This is a very informative book. I had to listen to it a few times before it sank in but I liked it. I really wish I had listened to it before I started my last business. I recommend this book for any business owner.
