Overview

American love and marriage can take on many forms, but the basic binding tenets are the same. For Steve and Cokie Roberts, more than 35 years of marriage have been based on their commonalities rather than their differences, such as gender or religion. Cokie, who is Catholic, and Steve, who is Jewish, were counseled by friends 35 years ago not to marry given their religious differences. They decided instead to base their marriage on partnership, equality, communication, and honesty. The title of their lecture is An Evening with Steve and Cokie Roberts.

An entertaining conversation about marriage and politics. Recorded in the middle of the 2008 election if I remember correctly. Therefore, it's a little out of date, but it is an interesting perspective.

This was both funny and interesting - a look back to the 2000 presidential race, and a glimpse at how a couple has used humor over the years to face hurdles together. I highly recommend this short book.
