Overview

For centuries, mystical creatures of all description were gathered to a hidden refuge called Fablehaven to prevent their extinction. The sanctuary survives today as one of the last strongholds of true magic in a cynical world. Enchanting? Absolutely. Exciting? You bet. Safe? Well, actually, quite the opposite ... Kendra and her brother Seth have no idea their grandfather is the current caretaker of Fablehaven. Inside the gated woods, ancient laws give relative order among greedy trolls, mischievous satyrs, plotting witches, spiteful imps, and jealous fairies. However, when the rules get broken, an arcane evil is unleashed, forcing Kendra and Seth to face the greatest challenge of their lives. To save her family, Fablehaven, and perhaps the world, Kendra must find the courage to do what she fears most.

I did enjoy the story, as did my children, but the reader was really awful. I couldn't wait to finish the discs to be rid of the reader. I think I would have enjoyed the story much more had it had a different reader. His tone and inflection was awful. I might get the kids to read the series, but I couldnt' stand to listen to it.

Great!

Great Book and Storyline. Wish it had a better reader. I felt like i was being read to a little child with the funny vocal inflections.

This appeared to be a very good story, but I could not get past the first disk because of the reader. To me, it sounded like it was being read for a 3 year old. I will read the book, but I will never listen to the audio book.

This will definately fill your post Harry Potter void. I loved this book! The magic is big. The kids are sassy, and funny. The characters are interesting. The magical creatures are many, and the action is great. The author has set up a great world, and could generate many books to come. The sequel to this book is even better, because the magic and action start up again on page 1.
