Fair Ball
First of all I think Bob Costas is absolutely the best at what he does; head and shoulder above the rest. For this cd however, you must really like baseball and your favorite subject should be statistics and math. It makes an excellent classroom presentation, but the numbers are numbing and by disc 4 you've probably heard enough.
A very enjoyable analysis of the problems with baseball by a real fan. But, better yet, here is someone who actually provides reasonable, sound and well-reasoned solutions to the problems facing baseball. If only the greedy owners, greedy TV executives and the greedy players could get together and make these changes.
An exceptional book on the business of sport. Centered on Major League Baseball Costas has a timeless message for all professional sports. He explains not only what MLB needs to do to regain fans but moreover he eloquently articluates why we love sports and our sporting teams. If you care at all about a major league sport, read this book.
