Overview

Improve your body, improve your career: An executive fitness plan by experts from the Cooper Wellness Clinic
- Tom Monaghan, the founder of Domino's Pizza, runs four miles a day and spend 30 minutes on the Nautilus machine
- Dr. Thomas Frist Jr., CEO of Columbia/HCA Healthcare, uses time between flights to jog around airports
- Julian C. Day, chief financial officer for Sears, Roebuck & Company, surfs
- President George W. Bush runs three miles a day, four days a week
Why do these four extremely busy and powerful executives place fitness at the top of their priorities list? Because leaders who are physically fit are better able to handle the enormous demands and pressures that confront them, including endless meetings, grueling travel schedules, high pressure, and stress. For years, The Cooper Wellness Program in Texas has taught high-level executives (including President Bush) the financial benefits of a fitness program. Now this two CD plus one CD-Rom program brings an eight-week, three-part fitness formula to executives across the nation, using the best knowledge available to help busy leaders achieve not just the obvious health benefits, but more effective performance on the job.

The book has good ideas (really only one) but it's delivered in a very glib manner with sporadic "leadership" examples from George W Bush.

I share this with some of our executives at our company and they had a positive review of it as well. The information is great for busy people and executive type. I follow a good diet (translation: eating plan) and eat healthy foods, organics, etc. but I was always missing the exercise part of life. I started my program 3 days after listening to the book. I'm going to buy the book in print form now too as it has made a positive change in my life. Energy does come from exercise, sleep improves, you feel more confident...all of the things the book mentions. I thought I was doing fine with the food part, but adding exercise as described has made a world of difference. This is a great motivator with facts and easy things one can do to get started and continue the journey toward health and fitness in a busy lifestyle. 3 of 5 for a ranking because I think the print book would have been better to read in this case.

We may not like to hear this, but the book is ABSOLUTELY on the money. I found this book to be good, but not very memorable. This may be due to the fact that I don't exercise much and don't have any motivation to do so...or do I? Actually, in recalling the audiobook, it may not have been very memorable, but I do remember the "common sense" knowledge that says exercise and keeping fit are crucial in being successfull...especially in today's society. To that note, I have started taking a closer look at my lifestyle, and begun taking steps to become more physically fit. As I give this book 3 stars (mainly due to the book not being able to keep 100% of my attention), I find that it is an important book to read or listen too on a regular basis in order to grab hold of the many keys that it has to offer.
