This biography was written for children many years ago. It has a quaintness about it that is lacking in today's kid lit. The author's treatment of Florence is almost beatification. In today's world where most all our heroes are shown to have feet of clay, it is refreshing to encounter such a laudatory treatment of a person with whom we are all so familiar. Now I am interested in learning more about the "real" Florence Nightingale. Lytton Strachey's "Eminent Victorians" has been recommended.
I enjoyed learning more about Florence Nightingale but the book was so positive about her that it seemed a bit unrealistic. It was written for children but the language is in an adult tone.
