Definitely in my top 5 favorite books of all times. The most moving and eye opening story. Hard to believe from our little sheltered world out here. It reminded me not to complain when I think I'm having a bad day...

This is, by far, one of the most powerful books I have ever read. Ali's journey is presented in both a detailed and insightful fashion. This woman, a few years younger than me, has seen and accomplished more in her short lifetime, than I could even begin to imagine for myself. Somali-born, and shuttled all over Africa at such a youg age during such a tumultuous time in Africa, this once radical Muslim was able to overcome her nomadic upbringing and devout faith, to eventually become a member of Dutch Parliament, and an outspoken feminist advocate for the basic human rights of mistreated Muslim women.
If you were to choose one "must read" book of the year, this is definitely it.
