Overview

Author of Compulsion and Psychopath, and the only forensic psychiatrist writing suspense, Keith Ablow is being hailed as the heir to Thomas Harris

John Snow is a brilliant inventor who has made millions from his genius in aeronautics. He has everything a man could desire: wealth, family, even a beautiful mistress. But he also has a brain disease, a rare form of epilepsy, that threatens his most valuable possession—his mind. Only one doctor may be able to cure it surgically, but at a terrible cost, one that Snow reveals to no one: Snow will have no memory whatsoever of his past—of its emotional entanglements or its secrets. The night before he is to enter the hospital, he is murdered. Forensic psychiatrist Dr. Frank Clevenger delves into Snow’s complex past and tortured relationships to unlock the identity of Snow’s killer: Was it the wife who can never forgive what he’s done to their child, the son who loathes him, the beautiful mistress who takes pleasure in inflicting emotional cruelty, or the business partner who helped him build his fortune?

Not the best effort

I am a big Frank Clevinger fan, but this one reads like Ablow got in a hurry to turn out another book in the series. Is it abridgment? Possibly, but this one had other issues. Narrator was ok, and his Boston accent was almost Ted Kennedyesque!

Fairly interesting and well-paced. No big surprises but its entertaining and easily digested.

I hope that it was the fact that this book was abridged that made it so awful. A psychiatrist, of all people, should have an ear for conversation. However the characters in this book do not ring true in dialogue behavior or much of any other way. Forensic psychiatrists are exposed to some of the most bizarre and exciting cases in the entire profession, but this is the best plot that he could create?! Ish a total waste of my time. If I had more books on disc at home to listen to during my commute, I would have returned this one unfinished.

Excellent twists!

I liked this book for the unexpected twists and turns. I enjoyed the narrator's rendition of this book,he made it very entertaining to listen to.I liked the concept of someone so disillusioned with life that he contemplated having surgery to erase his memories.Try to imagine doing that! An excellent read!

Murder Suicide keeps one guessing to the very end - which makes for a great listen-to. Ablow's characters are human, flawed and believable; the plot moves at a rapid pace. Looking forward to the next in the Dr. Frank Clevenger series.
