The Narrows was an excellent book. It was another great one with Detective Harry Bosch. It kept my interest throughout the whole set of CD's.

Wow! Now to be honest, I've always been a Harry Bosch fan, but this book was great! Increased character depth for good old Harry, lots of suspense, and just a great story. I listened to teh abridged version of the Poet (when our diabolical nemisis makes his appearance) and found it hard to follow. I probably will now go back and listen to the unabridged version of that book, as I suspect it was just too complex of a theme to cram into 3 hours. This one would have also been very difficult to do that with. I very strongly recommend you listen to this book, preferably after first listening to the Poet.

This was a great book ! oooorrr... what I got to listen to of it. I got the first set of CD's - but due to overwhelming demand for this book - Simply Audio couldnt send me the second set. I cancelled after a month so that I could at least get another book ! Not the authors fault ... I would have really loved to have finished this one ... a non-stop listen for sure.

What a great story. Of course, I've never read a Michael Connelly book that I didn't love! The Narrows is fascinating, interesting, unexpected and Harry Bosch is the coolest guy ever! Loved it.

Excellent Sequel

This sequel to "The Poet" was excellent. It was so well written and in-depth that I felt I was there every step of the way.

The Narrows

Bosch is at it again. After so many books in the series, it is amazing how Connelly still reveals more about this sometimes forelorn, sometimes spunky private eye. Other reviews note that you need to read The Poet prior to The Narrows. I feel that as long as you're familiar with Bosch, you'll be okay. If you watched Clint Eastwood in Bloodwork, you'll enjoy the many connections made to the film throughout the book. It's interesting to witness the "life after the movie" from an angle other than the original movie characters. Connelly integrates it so well that even if you haven't seen the movie, you'll agree it should have been made. Rachel Walling is a great female counterpart. She's clever, resourceful and attractive, yet, like Harry, far from perfect.. They make a great team as Rachel gets to show off her masculine side and Harry, now worried about his daughter, gets to release a little femininity. Hopefully Rachel and Harry will team up again.

Harry Bosch is certainly unconventional in his work in LAPD and as a PI. Enjoyed the book. Narrator not great at changing characters. Over-all good listen. Would recommend.

I just couldn't get into the book. It has a lot to keep track of and so many characters and scenarios that I sent it back before I finished it.

I am glad that I heard the Poet first. This was a greast conclusion to the first book. Harry is a great character. This is a must series. Michael Connelly does a masterful job. These two ,Poet & Narrows were great. The reader was wonderful.
