Overview

For more than twenty years, millions of managers in Fortune 500 companies and small businesses nationwide have followed The One Minute Manager's techniques, thus increasing their productivity, job satisfaction, and personal prosperity. These very real results were achieved through learning the management techniques that spell profitability for the organization and its employees.

The One Minute Manager is a concise, easily read story that reveals three very practical secrets: One Minute Goals, One Minute Praisings, and One Minute Reprimands. The audio also presents several studies in medicine and the behavioral sciences that clearly explain why these apparently simple methods work so well with so many people. By the audio's end you will know how to apply them to your own situation and enjoy the benefits.

Easy listening :)

These 2 CDs were enjoyable to listen to. It tells a story about a young man who tries to find out why this one manager has the best ratings for getting the job done while not spending a lot of time with his employees. It gives some good ideas on how we can all be one-minute managers and waste less time repeating ourselves and letting others answer the questions instead of providing them with answer.

Rambling Story Telling

For something titled "The One-Minute Manager", it took some time listening to even find out what a One-Minute Manager is. This is narrated as a story about somebody learning about the One-Minute Manager, which added a layer to the book that I could have done without. Some people are glad it's not "dry and boring", but I found this be somewhat of a waste of time. Maybe the book would be better, but this is just a long-winded rambling story that I found hard to extract key points from. I would have preferred something like "The 10 Steps to Becoming a One-Minute Manager". Maybe it's already out there. The message is OK, but the delivery was poor, in my opinion.

Let me save you some time

Here's the book, in 100 words. - Set goals and communicate them with your staff - Say good things about your staff when they do good things - Say bad things to them when they do bad things (but be nice about it). Now you don't need to read the book.

One Minute Read... (or listen)

I got this book because it is on the recommended reading list for my new company. I understand why. I thought it would be dry and boring. Far from it. It tells a story, in short and sweet terms and makes me wonder where all the one minute managers in the world are? They haven't been in the jobs I have had. I will definitely use the methods in this book to be a manager. Good read!

One Minute Manager - 45 Minute Waste of Time

This CD was a total waste of time - unless you REALLY don't know anything about management. It briefly describes three principles: (1) setting employee goals, (2) praising employees, and (3) reprimanding employee behavior. (Sorry if I gave it away)

I did not even get through the first CD, I am not sure if the reader was nervous or high.
