There is something appealing about the character Harry Bosch. Maybe it is his willingness to push the limits, question authority, or his belief that rules should only be followed if they make sense or don't stand in the way of getting to the truth. The plot of The Overlook is not at all complex, and the ending probably won't take you by surprise, but with Harry Bosch as the lead detective, it is entertaining.
Liked the story a lot! Thought the reader needed to practice his accents however. The Cuban-Am detective sounded like he was from Dublin, Irleand.
Not the greatest of books. A so-so read. I was glad it wasn't longer.
If you are a Harry Bosch fan, get this one. It is a good read although short and fast.
Not many discs so story moves quickly. I'm a fan of the Bosch series, but this one lacked the intensity of a good intrigue. Still it's a good read.
Thank goodness this book was only 5 CD's. I finished it but agree with other reviewers that it wasn't one of his best... If you are a Connelly fan then I would still recommend it.
Listened to the book on my morning commute to work. The plot was very timely. Electrifying? Probably not. But, definitely worth listening to. Loved the twist in the story.
Not the best Bosch but good enought to hold my interest. Didn't see the end "twist" until very late so Connelly did a good job of hiding it. I recommend it as a good read for a cold winter day but not as a classic suspense novel.
Connelly doesn't dissapoint. Bosch fans will enjoy this book.
Another excellent Harry Bosch. If you have never read Michael Connelly, please start with this one. It's not the first Harry Bosch story (he's the detective) but it will leave you wanting to read all the rest.
"Connelly has won the Edgar, Anthony, Macavity, Nero, Barry, Ridley, Maltese Falcon (Japan), .38 Caliber (France), Grand Prix (France), and Premio Bancarella (Italy) awards.
In addition to his work in publishing, Michael Connelly was one of the creators, writers, and consulting producers of Level 9, a TV show about a task force fighting cyber crime that ran on UPN in the Fall of 2000.
Connelly is currently writing his next book which will be released in 2004. It will be another in the Harry Bosch series.
He lives with his family in Florida. "
