Overview

Cynthia Riggs draws from a lifetime’s intimacy with fabled Martha’s Vineyard and its people to create an irresistible series filled with murder and special atmosphere.

A small town, even one detached from the mainland, has its share of unpleasant residents. When a developer with an unhappy wife, a bullish attitude toward women, and a much frowned upon plan is murdered, not many tears are shed. The case naturally falls to Victoria Trumbull, the ninety-two-year-old sharp-witted sheriff’s deputy. Served by her in-depth knowledge of the island and her indomitable drive, Victoria is on the trail again, bunions, lilac-bough cane, and all.

I really like this novel. It was my first by this author - I tried it because I love MVI. Overall the book was fun and worth the time to listen to.

Those who like the Aunt Dimity mysteries will enjoy Victoria Trumbull as she investigates. Reminiscent of English Cottage Ms. Marple as well. The reader is lead in one direction and the final twist is a surprise!

Enjoying this book so far...

I am a fan of books set in England, Ireland or Scotland. I can imagine by the accent and use of language that this is going to be one that I enjoy. I have even brought the CD's into the house and am listening to them at home to enjoy the unfolding story more quickly.

Fun. No depth--just good characters, interesting setting all told with good humor and interest. I enjoyed it.
