Overview

"This historical novel of ancient Egypt is set during the turbulent reigns of the Pharaoh Akhenaten and his successors, including Tutankhamon. The story unfolds through the eyes of a slave girl, who comes to know more of the king and of his city than most."

Fell Flat in the End

The novel started out well. There were a few innuendos to the story of the Exodus but nothing overt until about halfway through the book. Then suddenly, the original storyline and the author's originality were lost. It became a somewhat warped telling of the Bible's Exodus and not very well told at that. I gave it three stars just because it started out so interesting but it lost the last two because the novel ended up falling flat.
