Although I found the constant references being listed that tied the point back to the Koran irritating, I know that this was necessary. Although some have said the book is one sided, I found it to be exactly what is needed in examining Islam, a politically incorrect examination of Islam without all the PC prejudices that are so prevalent in our society. I suggest everone read this if they want to understand what the long term goals of Islam are...and how they will impact American society in the future.
For those reviewers here who say this book is "one sided", you have to remember that it is titled the "Politically Incorrect" guide to Islam. Right up front the author tells the reader/listener that it is not meant to be a survey of Islam or a comprehensive history of the religion. It is meant to inform the reader of what mainstream Islam and the Koran really teach as opposed to those in the media who try to paint Islam as a religion of "peace" and "tolerance", etc. I found the book to be pretty much what I expected. I do wish the author had spent more time on the history of the Crusades, but nonetheless I enjoyed the book and would recommend it to anyone who is willing to listen to a perspective you probably won't find in the mainstream American media.
Spencer does an excellent job of showing how "mainstream" media & the political elite of the West have been willfully ignorant of the dark side of Islam. While giving due credit to the small minority of vocal Muslim moderates, he provides a stark account of what this religion's authoritative teachings authorize and advocate. His contrast b/t Quranic Islam and Biblical Christianity is incendiary, but accurate. One may wish to read other accounts that offer a more detailed view of "moderate Islam," but it should be required reading for every political leader and citizen who is not Islamic and has no desire to be (individually, or with their countrymen). As other reviews show, some people would rather stick their heads in the sand than ask why - for every evil done by Westerners, apologies & reparations are made and an entire culture feels shame/guilt, but the only voices heard from the Islamic world cheer Islamofacist atrocities, offer political doublespeak, or remain silent.
After listening to only 1 CD, I really just couldn't finish this. I was hoping for an unbiased history of Islam, both the good, and the bad. What I got instead pure propaganda. I felt I was listening to literature from the Aryan Nation, or something similar, and felt dirty just listening to it. Though it kills me to return a book unfinished, I am compelled to return this selection unfinished, and go wash my hands... hundreds of times.
As I read, I sharpened my knives, knowing I'd be cutting my wrists soon. What sort of review convinced me to welect this complete waste of time! The postman can't take this book back fast enough. I don't know how many discs are there--I actually don't care--as long as they're outa here by noon. Less than no stars would be perfect! I'm embarassed to admit it took me 3 discs to decide it wasn't gonna get no better. Goodbye Islam, hello Grisham... gk
Robert Spencer uses reason, history and the koran itself to make his arguments, he makes them clearly and unequivocally.Whatever this man writes I will read/ lisiten to it, the cd is narrated well and holds your attention while keeping you thinking. Listen to this and you will listen to Mr. Spencer's other very fine works.
Interesting but bias. I enjoyed learning about the history of the religion and the culture, but the author does little to mask his political and religious biases. I’m sure you could find books that are equally as informative, and a little more centered.
Although I found this book to be very detailed in its research, I thought it posited an extremely biased account of Islam. It seemed the author ‘cherry picked’ information to put Islam in an intensely bad light. Especially when comparing and contrasting the teaching of Christianity. More balance in the content and conclusions would have garnered a higher rating form this reader.
