Interesting, if somewhat biased view of politics over the last 20 years. While the author goes after both Republicans and Democrats, and is brutal on the impact consultants have had on the process, you can't escape the feeling he has his own political ax to grind and his "research" is often limited to anecdotes. After a while this gets a bit old. None the less, some interesting insights into our very flawed process. Little in the way of suggestions for change are offered by the authors own admission.
I learned so much. I guess that I was lost trying to understand the political system and who does what. JOe make it easier to understand. Boy did I not pay attention over the years. Now both eyes are open.
Joe Klein's book is very revealing about how election politics has become trivial and governed by the profeesional polsters and managers. It is a reflection of how out of touch and disinterested we the citizens have become with our liberty and responsibilities.
