Leigh...She was terrifyingly alone on a Texas highway about to deliver her first child when a rugged stranger in a pickup truck stopped to help her. Leigh Bransom had lost her husband eight months before when he was tragically killed on the job. Now a fateful meeting on a lonesome highway brought a new man into her life - one with secrets and the power to make her lonely once again. Chad...A man who pursued a dangerous business, Chad Dillon kept his past a mystery. He was determined to make Leigh care for him, but there were no guarantees that his love could protect her from the very thing she feared most.

I am a huge fan of Sandra Brown, but I really found this story tedious. I didn't find the characters terribly convincing and guessed the ending long before it happened. I get the feeling that this was one of Sandra Brown's earlier novels; I think that some of her more recent novels are more powerful and engaging.

I have no idea how I finished the book. It was terrible. Not a bad story line, but the characters drove me nuts. The words they used are not realistic and the sex scenes were just plain ridiculous because no one really speaks in the manner that Chad Dillon talks. I would not recommend this book.

An endearing story. The beginning sucks you right in to the interesting...if not awkward...relationship that Leigh and Chad develop. It has a good flow. Because it's a Sandra Brown book you know what will happen in the end, but the ride is still interesting.
