Overview

Award-winning investigative journalist Greg Palast digs deep to unearth the ugly facts that few reporters working anywhere in the world today have the courage or ability to cover. From East Timor to Waco, he has exposed some of the most egregious cases of political corruption, corporate fraud, and financial manipulation in the US and abroad. His uncanny investigative skills as well as his no-holds-barred style have made him an anathema among magnates on four continents and a living legend among his colleagues and his devoted readership.
This exciting new collection brings together some of Palast's most powerful writing of the past decade. Included here are his celebrated "Washington Post" exposé on Jeb Bush and Katherine Harris's stealing of the presidential election in Florida, and recent stories on George W. Bush's payoffs to corporate cronies, the payola behind Hillary Clinton, and the faux energy crisis. Also included in this volume are new and previously unpublished material, television transcripts, photographs and letters.

Disappointing

I've been a democrate all of my life, and like most people I prefer to be told the honest truth in a straight, unbiased manner. Unfortunately, this book, while having some truthful facts, blows everything way out of proportion. The movie stars doing the reading actually lessen the credibility of this book because they over dramatize each point. What I was hoping for was data I could use to counter arguements that radical conservatives present; instead, I just got mostly overblown, biased junk presented in overdramatized way. Disappointing!

Palast, a US journalist for the UK Press, with his lambastic attacks on everyone from Bush 43, and how his Brother Jeb gave him Florida, to how the IFC and the World Bank are taking over / destroying 3rd World countries for profit, brings to light some of the nastiest truths of our generation. He even paints Thomas Friedman, one of my favorite columnists from the NY Times, as a puerile tool of the proponents of Globalization. While some of his points may shock the reader, his points have been made by others, so don't assume that Palast is a Madman. Many of his issues have been brought up in such books as "Confessions of an Economic Hitman", and many others that you can obtain right here on SAB. Don't let his bombastic style turn you away. Everyone really needs to hear what he has to say, whether they believe it or not. It makes you yearn for the days of the Kennedy boys, where the government / big business still at least seemed to work FOR the people, not in spite of them.

Riveting and disturbing

This is one of those books/CD's that is disturbing, but no matter how much you want to stop listening, it is important to keep going. The stuff Greg Palast uncovers is unpleasant, but somebody's got to talk about it. This CD is important because it presents the information that most major media is afraid to tell you.

This audio CD doesn't deserve even one star. Of all the audio CD I have rented, this was the worst. This author is a raving lunatic and no one should rent this audio CD unless you want to hear some madman who is still living the 2000 presidential election! Absolutely a waste of time!
