Ori Z. Soltes is Professorial Lecturer at Georgetown University and has also taught in the Classics Department at Johns Hopkins and Cleveland State Universities. Professor Soltes’ areas of specialization include Jewish, Christian and Muslim art and religions, classical philosophy, linguistics and Indo-European philology and Greek and Roman art. He will divide his remarks in the lecture chronologically between a world where concerns of religion are evident and all around and a world that thinks of itself as having left that behind, he said. The history of theater and religion are interwoven through the theatricality of religion. He also will talk about the putative revolt in theater and in religion to disconnect the two.
