Overview

Calories are only half of the weight-loss equation ... welcome to the other half.

In The Thin Commandments Diet, Dr. Stephen Gullo lets you in on his unique weight-loss program that has a success rate that is many times higher than the national average. His two-part approach replaces willpower with strategy and deprivation dining with great-tasting gourmet fare.

In the first part, he reveals his strategy secrets -- the 10 Thin Commandments -- including:

Think historically, not just calorically -- identify trigger foods that can undermine your weight loss.

Slips should teach you, not defeat you -- uncover the "24-hour secret" and never gain weight from binging again.

The problem may be in the food, not in you -- learn the strategies to take control of your favorite foods.
In the second part, Dr. Gullo outlines his simple diet which will put you on the shortest path to safe and rapid weight loss -- without depriving you of the foods you love. He takes the guesswork out of dieting and offers a program that helps melt pounds away quickly and easily.

Good Common Sense Tips

The author should have gotten a professional reader, his voice was highly annoying, and I did find that many times you were not sure where one commandment started and the last one ended, but otherwise there was some great practical advise.

This book has some very practical advice to help one stick to a diet of common sense. It helps you to figure out what works for each person's personality types and what triggers you to eat the wrong foods. Some very sound advice.

Yes, the voice is annoying at times, especially if the listener is from the South. The reader has a Yankee accent. Otherwise, I listened twice to all 3 cd's, the whole book. It made sense. The information was not preachy like Dr. Phil's book. I obtained several good practices from this book.

I commend anyone who can actually endure listening to this author's voice, which is so incredibly grating that it almost sounds like a parody. If any book cries out for a professional reader in lieu of the author, it's this one. I'm giving it a 3 because he had some good ideas, but I couldn't stay with his voice for the long haul. It drove me mad, and not in a good way.

I was highly motivated by this book. It approaches weight loss in a different way that makes better sense than a lot of other books I've listened to lately. I would recommend this book to anyone who is dieting.
