Overview

Clare and Henry have known each other since Clare was six and Henry was thirty-six. They were married when Clare was twenty-three and Henry thirty-one. Impossible but true, because Henry is one of the first people diagnosed with Chrono-Displacement Disorder: periodically his genetic clock resets and he finds himself misplaced in time, pulled to moments of emotional gravity from his life, past and future. His disappearances are spontaneous, his experiences unpredictable, alternately harrowing and amusing. Clare and Henry’s story unfolds from both points of view, depicting the effects of time travel on their marriage and their passionate love for each other. They attempt to live normal lives, pursuing familiar goals—steady jobs, good friends, children of their own. All of this is threatened by something they can neither prevent nor control, making The Time Traveler's Wife intensely moving and entirely unforgettable.

Snoresville

Well, the reviews from others are almost exactly 1 out of 2 positive. One person LOVES it, the next person hates it. I am a next person, because this thing stinks on ice. Never got into it, nothing redeeming here!

Not worth the time

It actually started out pretty good, it was interesting and different. I even got used to the male reader's irritating voice, eventually. Then, about 1/2-2/3 of the way through, it started getting repetitious and the characters began doing things that didn't make sense and became irritating. If this was a book I was wasting my leisure time on, I never would have finished it. Things just became ridiculous and felt forced for the sake of being shocking. Far from a heartwarming love story, this was actually a pathetic tale of a woman's life long all consuming infatuation with a guy who just makes her wait around for him.

Time Traveler's Wife

I did not like this book right from the beginning---the male reader's voice grated on me immediately and I had to turn down the volume. After one disc I sent it back. Back to the rental shelf!

Time Traveler's Wife

This was very enjoyable. Everything you read does not have to follow only tried and understood concepts. Suspend reality for a change. I think it was clever and entertaining, and it mixed a good deal of comedy with tragedy. I liked that Henry had a sense of humor about his situation. And it was interesting that his visits were both past and future and he even encountered himself, as himself. Nothing cute was attempted to alter the grand events of history. In fact, Henry was very careful in that regard. With that out of the picture, the reader is able to concentrate on the characters and how they react and is not forced to anticipate that they will alter time and space and life and death as any "normal" time traveler might be expected to do.

Don't bother.

If you like worth-while literature, don't waste your time on this one. It started out okay but quickly became redundant and tiresome. Also, the male narrator had this smarmy tone that drove me up the wall.

A Bittersweet Story

Very well done. You have to ignore the science fiction stuff and just accept the unexplained paradoxes. If you do, you will find this to be a genuinely funny, heart warming (and wrenching) tale of true love.

The time Travelers Wife

If time travel fascinates you this book will blow your mind. Usually the time travel theme involves changing or affecting history. The characters here never attempt to do that, but only to live their lives as happily as possible. It will absolutely keep you mentally alert (and laughing out loud at times) as the author sets up situations that I for one never imagined. A great read.

I loved this book! It was very well written. I felt like I knew the characters and I loved them. This book was sad but had some pretty funny parts.

It took a while for me to acclimate to the male reader. His tone is predominantly sarcastic or corny. The female reader is alluring. Romances aren't my thing, but the love story is unique, w/ the need to be normal at war w/ extraordinary forces.
