Turns out I’m not a fan of commuting
Tuesday, June 19th, 2007I’ve recently become a ‘real’ commuter.
I live in one city and work in a neighbouring community. For the 7 glorious months since I started my job, I’ve had use of my sister’s car and the drive seldom took longer than 20 minutes. There was never any traffic and the drive always flew by. Since I was driving to another city, I naturally considered myself a commuter. And, since my drive was ‘easy’ I never really understood the raging, whining incessant complaints of other commuters.
Then, inevitably, my sister took her car back.
Suddenly, my ‘easy’ 20 minute drive has become a bus-train-bus hour-and-a-half mission. And my lack of understanding of the plight of my fellow commuters quickly turned into compassion, which even more quickly turned in to my own raging, whining incessant complaints about commuting. (more…)
