It’s July – I’m officially starting my countdown
I’m not sure if it’s sad or amusing that my most pressing social plans this month involve deciding where I’m going to spend the night of July 20th. To those who don’t know the date, you’ll probably roll your eyes and smirk. To those who do, you’ve probably already got your plans (and maybe costumes) in place. At 12:01 a.m. on July 21st Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows will officially be released. This was the first date I marked in my new calendar this year, and this weekend I turned the page to uncover my giant red and blue starburst around the date. Okay – so I’m kind of a fan.
One of the much cooler options for that night is a party at the Barnes and Noble in Union Square in New York, where Jim Dale will be hosting and reading. I hate to drop the BN name in our blog, but I have to admit that is going to be one good party. Jim Dale is one of the most talented narrators ever and to hear him read Harry Potter live would be surreal. This man holds the Guinness record for the most characters/voices ever recorded by a single reader – 134 for Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. Ridiculous.
So I’ve got just under three weeks to figure out how feasible it is for me to go to New York to listen to Jim Dale read for an hour and a half.
Maybe I can apparate…

I’m trying to figure out how to avoid the World Premiere of Order of The Phoenix in Hollywood on Sunday. They’ve blocked the street I use for my daily commute for four days. That will definitely be a nightmare of a detour! Good thing I have that Nano!

I’m a 40 something year old woman who has listened to Jim Dale’s readings of all of the Harry Potter books probably over 20 times.
That’s how pathetic I am. Thankfully, I listen to history audiobooks also, so I’m not just a HP junkie.
I would kill to see this amazing person read in NY. His voices are phenomenal. The only one I really don’t like is Jenny’s voice; other than that, I think he nails them.
I’m so pathetic that I actually have Jim Dale discussions with people!

I am a huge HP fan too!!! I’ve listenedto Jim Dale read the books so many times, I almost know them by heart!! I am not ashamed to call myself a HP junkie!!! I am so full of mixed emotions with this last book….I am going to the party at Hastings where I live. We don’t have a Barnes & Noble. I don’t think I’m gonna fress up though. I’m a little too old for that. But my Birthday is 6 days after the book comes out, so guess what I told everyone I wanted for my birthday??

How old is too old to dress up though? I was just trying to convince some of my co-workers today that we should make next Friday ‘Harry Potter’ day and come in all dressed up. I could probably pull off Hermione pretty well…
No one seemed as excited about this as me, but, I haven’t hit everyone in the office yet
