Harry Potter and the Neverending Spoilers
My plan for the weekend was simple – Harry Potter. I finally went to see the movie on Saturday, and Sunday was to be spent with book 7. Everything was shaping up nicely, until Sunday afternoon, a few chapters in, my roommate’s horribly inconsiderate anti-Harry Potter appendix decided it needed removing. Immediately. I never knew I could get mad at an organ. Turns out I can. Cursed appendix…
So now it’s Wednesday, I haven’t had a chance to get through much more of the book, and trying to avoid hearing about what happens is getting to be difficult. Potential spoilers are everywhere. I have no idea what is happening in the world this week, all because I don’t want to turn on the tv or open the paper and find out what happens in Deathly Hallows. I even inadvertently yelled at two colleagues the other day.
They started talking about HP and I promptly plugged my ears and tried to shush them. They continued and so I just looked away, ears plugged, eyes averted to potential lip-reading (it’s not a skill I have, but more one I was afraid I’d suddenly develop). As they started to pull another co-worker into the HP-spoiling conversation I – fingers still in ears – somewhat nastily screeched “NOOOO! Don’t listen to them!”, all while my desk neighbour was trying to carry on a phone conversation. Hey – I take my Potter seriously. Cursed colleagues…
But I will finish it, and I will finish it soon – without hearing what happens beforehand. And when I do, I promise to never post anything that spoils, or even hints at, what happens. I’d hate to get replies or emails saying “Cursed Simply Audioblog…”
*Note: Roommate is recovering nicely, and colleagues have been apologized to…and politely asked not to discuss Potter in my presence…

I totally sympathize. I was in Londaon and the hilite was seeing Harry Potter at teh IMAX, with the last quarter hour in 3-D. I was just getting delightfully frightened by the dementor attack on Harry and Dursley when a troupe of 8 came in late and tramped all over me to get to their seats. I am usually not rude, but I was furious at their breach of manners–and in England, yet! Regardless, I loved Luna and thought the movie was terrific–wish it had been 2 hours longer. ANd I want a thestral for Christmas…
