Frankenstein

Monday, October 27th, 2008

Since we recently read an article about zombies and their likeliness of roaming the earth actually being higher than the average person probably anticipated, we’ve been a bit obsessed about what we’d actually do if zombies attacked. After consulting our Zombie Survival Handbook, and a vast amount of brainstorming, we’ve decided that our best chance at surviving is to head to Prince Edward Island and destroy the bridge. So, if you’re in Canada when zombies attack, you better make it to P.E.I before the bridge is destroyed… just a heads up.

What does this all have to do with Frankenstein? Well, actually… nothing. Originally, the link between Frankenstein and zombies was going to be the idea that Frankenstein is also a mindless monster. However, I apparently have been corrupted by the more recent interpretations of Shelley’s novel seen in movies and on T.V.

Confession: I have not actually read Frankenstein. I did however read the synopsis (albeit after I started writing the blog).

Without giving too much away, Frankenstein actually refers to the doctor who creates the monster (not the monster itself) who, feeling rejected by his creator and society learns to hate. Get this, he also teaches himself English! So much for my mindless monster theory. Please tell me I’m not the only person who didn’t know! Though me not knowing is made exponentially more embarrassing by the fact that I work for a book company and Frankenstein is a classic.

Luckily I can purchase Frankenstein on CD or cassette for 20% off! This spooky promotion applies to all of our horror and thriller audiobooks, to help you get in to the Halloween spirit. Beware: offer ends this Friday. Happy Halloween.
