Overview

Jonathan D. Spence was educated at Winchester College and at Cambridge University and received his Ph.D. from Yale University in 1965. He is Sterling Professor of History at Yale, where he has served as chairman of the Council on East Asian Studies and the Department of History, as well as director of the Division of the Humanities.

Fascinating, a lecture which presents itself as something you might hear on "Ideas" on CBC or to date myself something that might have been broadcast on "Sunday Morning?" when that time slot gave you background and discussion on events both in a current and historical context.
