Overview

New England patriarch Ephraim Cabot, greedy and hard like the stone walls that surround his farm, brings his new young bride Abbie home to meet the family. His three grown sons do not approve. Two leave for California to find their fortune in gold. But the third son, Eben, remains to fight for his claim to the farm. Abbie immediately proves to be a serious contender, and what follows is a tragedy of Greek proportions.

I sent this back without listening to the whole thing. It was only 2 CD's and that was too much. The reading was too dramatic for my taste.
