Excellent book and true to it's title - as a therapist I am able to help many clients to pass on her message - liked it so much that I went out and bought the book -
I always find Harriet Lerner's books insightful and interesting. This book was no exception. Dr. Lerner explains her terms clearly, and then moves into a case study. After she talks about a specific situation, she talks about how she was able to help the people involved. She gives you tools to help you analyze your situation, and gives you ideas on how to cope. I found the section on workplace stress especially interesting, as I have just gone through a very stressful situation at my job. My only complaint is with the audio. Dr. Lerner tends to be louder at the beginning of her sentences, and then lowers her voice at the end of the sentence. I found that in order to hear the end of the sentence, I had to turn the volume up so far that the beginning of the sentence was too loud. Still, I enjoyed listening to the voice of an author I have long admired.
The books starts slow, with the author reading in a monotone, apparently not saying much of anything. However, by the end of the book I found her ideas insightful and her voice interesting.
