Excellent as all of James Herriott's stories. The reader is the actor who plays Herriott in "All Creatures Great and Small" and you would think it was Herriott himself. Wonderful stories of animals and of people. Touching, funny and poignant at times.

James Herriot books are great. I have read a number of them over the years. This book introduction is by Herriot's son. It is interesting to hear his comments about growing up with his father's stories. Christopher Timothy did a good job in reading the story. I just wished the book was longer. Herriot brings to life the farm people and life in Nothern England of the early 1920

Uplifting and funny

James Herriot is a master of observation, of humans as well as animals, very funny, poignant and uplifting at the same time. His description of the countryside is so vivid that I could imagine myself trotting up the green hills. I thought the reader did a good job of capturing the flavor of the book and only wished for more stories!

When I learned that Herriot's Animal Stories were over fifty years old, I expected to find them somewhat dated and of little interest to me. I couldn't have been more wrong. Herriot has the rare gift of bringing people to life in a manner that is truly captivating. These stories aren't just for animal lovers, they are for everyone who loves to listen to a great tale.

Many of these stories I had heard in previous books. But, they were all that much better the second time. Kept me laughing the whole time.

This book evoked a bit of every emotion; it was comforting to come back to and I was sad when it was over.

Mr. Herriot has a wonderful way of putting you in his stories. You feel as though you are with him on his farm visits feeling his excitment or disappointment about each situation he faces. It is just a good book.

Beautiful stories, read by a great voice, they pull you in and are utterly charming. Entirely positive, a rush of humanity and a true-life glimpse of the life of a country veterinarian. Perfect for listening to in a car on short trips.
