Overview

A missing little girl named Maggie Rose. A family of three brutally murdered in the projects of Washington, D.C. The thrill-killing of a beautiful elementary school teacher. A psychopathic serial kidnapper/murderer who calls himself the Son of Lindbergh. He is so terrifying that the FBI, the Secret Service, and the police cannot outsmart him-even after he's been captured.

Gary Soneji is a mild-mannered mathematics teacher at a Washington, D.C., private school for the children of the political and social elite. He's so popular that the kids all call him "Mr. Chips." And he's very, very smart. Growing up, he always knew he was smarter than the rest of them-he knew that the Great Ones always fooled everybody. He kidnaps Maggie Rose, the golden-haired daughter of a famous movie actress, and her best friend, Shrimpie Goldberg, the son of the secretary of the treasury, right out from under the noses of their two Secret Service agents. But Gary Soneji is not surprised at his skill. He's done it before. Hundreds of times before.

Alex Cross must face the ultimate test as a psychologist: how do you outmaneuver a brilliant psychopath? Especially one who appears to have a split personality-one who won't let the other half remember those horrific acts?

Soneji has outsmarted the FBI, the Secret Service, and the police. Who will be his next victim?

Great story

I really enjoyed this book. The story moves along nicely and the narrator does a good job. There are a few annoying parts, such as the cheesy music they play when there is a love song. But those don't ruin the book.

I liked the story but all the accents were kind of trying at times to listen to. Good read while on long trip helped to pass the time quickly. Would recommend to any James Patterson fan.

Very good. I like Alex Cross. One of the early ones. Wish they would list them so you would know them in more of an order. Takes you by surprise.

Another great Alex Cross novel but this one was really full of unecessarily bad language, more than all the others. At times, it was hard to get through it because of that. The story line was very good though so I had to look over the language.

You need to stay with this one. A great read or listen if you can do it in one setting.

The book was far better than the movie. I loved the twists and turns of Patterson's novels. Leaves you wanting more at the end.

Typical Thriller

If you are a fan of thrillers, you may like this more than I did. I found the plot entertaining at the times, but I won't remember much about it a week from now. Lacks depth. Some of the plot was non-sensical to me. James Patterson has been highly recommended by many people; perhaps just not my type. I thought "Kiss the Girls" was better. Good listen while commuting though.
