With the Pimsleur Language Programs, students don't just study a new language, they learn it -- the same way they learned their own language -- by listening. The unique Pimsleur method of self-practice with an expert teacher and native speaker is specially designed to work with the way the mind naturally acquires language -- vocabulary, pronunciation, and grammar are all learned together without mindless memorization. By simply listening and responding to thirty minute recorded lessons, students learn at their own pace -- comfortably and effectively.

I have gotten through about half of the lessons in this section so far. It reviews the material somewhat slowly, and very repetitive - which is exactly what is needed to remember the words when you need them. It works. I don't find it boring, because even as it repeats the words it is using them in different ways and different conversations. I also find the conversations a bit funny, almost like listening to one of the more subtle Monty Python skits or watching the Bald Soprano. "Are you going to eat?" "Yes, if I have time." "I am going to eat too. I am going to pay." "What time is it?" "It's 5:30" "Oh, then I have 15 or 16 minutes. I am going to eat. And you are going to pay." "But I have no money."

Absolutely wonderful! I am learning to speak Spanish at a surprisingly fast pace with the help of Pimsleur. Simply amazing! I recommend for anyone wanting to learn a new language. I have finished Pimsleur I and Pimsleur II and I am continuing on with Pimsleur III.

Positive features: native speakers, relatively easy to learn and practice. Negative features: you won't become fluent quickly with these cd's, grammar principles are not always transparent. On the whole, the cd's were fun and useful.

Tricky, but great!

I listen to this in my car on the way to and from work. I recently moved to Texas and have found a great need for Spanish. Although it's tricky at first learning without seeing what I'm saying on paper...it is much more like the first time I learned to speak (as a baby). If you want to get the basics down in your morning and evening commutes...this is the only way. Every other program I've tried is could not compare. I'm moving on to CD's 9-16...wish me luck.

I enjoyed having Spanish on my car radio. My high school Spanish returned quickly and I only wished I had the second set of CDs.
